New Playgroup hours

Playgroup now opens earlier. 9:00-12:00 Mondays and Wednesdays.

It seems to me that many parents are dropping off siblings at school shortly before 9:00, and that a hour is too long to wait, yet not long enough to go home or somewhere else and return to Playgroup. Plus the some younger ones are early risers and are ready for naptime long before noon.

We'll try out the earlier hours, and if it's popular, we'll continue on with these new hours.

Let's here from you. Is it a good idea? Any other suggestions for playgroup? More structure? More toys? Different toys?

Summer Programs 2008

The program offerings this summer met with mixed success. Some programs were very well attended like, Broadway Bound. Others like Toe Tapping Tots and Make Believe and Me just met the student quota, with two programs Cool Creations and Dance to the Beat ended up being cancelled due to insufficient enrollment.

We work closely with the City of Edmonton to offer programs that meet the wants and expectations of the community. It can be challenging to get everything right as things like demographics and interests change from year to year. The best way to ensure we are offering the programs people want is to let us know what you are looking for.

If you or your children attended a particular program this summer I'd like to hear from you. What influenced your decision? Topic? Date? Time of Day? Price? If you didn't sign up for a program, why not? Lack of information? Didn't know what was offered?

Leave a comment or send an e-mail. The more feedback we get, the better the choices will be for next year!

Below is a listing of all the programs that were offered this summer.

Welcome to the Strathcona Community Programs Blog

In addition to the Strathcona Community League Programs webpages, I've decided to start a Programs blog. Mainly for several reasons:
1) To provide users with a convenient RSS feed to keep up to date on what's happening with Programs
2) Provide a quick and easy way to ask questions and provide feedback and
3) As a way to keep a running history of what programs have been offered in the past, how they did and show a broader picture of what the Strathcona Community League offers in the way of Programs.

I can't promise that the blog will be updated very regularly, but upcoming events, program changes or anytime something changes on the website will also be posted here.

Keep in touch.
